How to Use Whatsapp on Blackberry Without Bis

Basically I'm using BB 9700 BOLD running OS 6...
I want to run Whatsapp, facebook & facebook messenger WITHOUT subscribing to BIS...
I tried Aerize but when i installed it, it worked for 10 minutes and I was able to use whatsapp then it stopped working.I deleted then reinstalled and again worked only for 10 minutes...Can u tell me what to do..

I'm pretty sure that on older berries you have to have bis for data. If you don't want to get bis you need a different phone.

whatsapp, facebook, twitter work fine on my bold 9700 without bis. I even can use bbm channels without bis.

WhatsApp never worked for me without bis. Facebook, Facebook messenger, and twitter work with wifi no problem.

It might work on wi-fi but you need BIS that's it.

Hasn't been my experience pre-bis. Neither my dad's, which still doesn't have bis lol. Many things work on wifi only, except for a few select apps like bbm, etc which require bis.

i have read many posts where internet can be surfed without BIS. I have changed the TCP settings to : www but still internet\whatsapp not working in my phone . Can anybody help ?
I have also read that its not working properly in OS 6 , but working perfectly in OS 5 , is it coorect ? then do i need to downgrade my OS ? Is it easy to downgrade ?06-18-13 03:15 PM

Whatsapp on Blackberry without BIS Plan
First Set your APN setting according to your service provider
Secondly go to Option - Device - Application Management
Third Search for WhatsApp
Click BB button and select edit permission
Set Connection to Custom
Save it your BB device will reboot or self reboot your deviceOnce it is rebooted check your WhatsApp it will work!! like charm

I can CONFIRM that whatsapp DOES work without BIS...I am using it without BIS and have been for the last 2 weeks..I couldnt get it to work initially but with a little messing aroung it can. At first I had issues like it would stop working after a couple of hours unitl i did a battery pull. not nice! im using a 9700 with OS5. Heres how I got mine to work, lets hope it workd for you too:1) download from their site. install and configure your account.
2) Disable compression if you have it enables. (ill leave it to you to find out where thats located in OS6)
3) Disable encryption and firewalls (if you have any)
4) Enable browser push (make sure you get enable all the following: Enable push, Enable MDS push, Enable WAP push AND allow WAP push applicaitons. that makes a total of 4. dont worry about the service load stuff, its correct by default (=alternates btw auto and allow all)
5) disbale auto on/off for the mean time. ( enable it once everything is all set and running. I have it enabled and whatsapp works fine when it automatically turns on in the morning)
6) pull battery while its on. and restart.Make sure you give it ALL permissions initially. Change permissions once you get it to work properly. I have changed mine but youll have to see which ones you can turn off safely.
This goes without saying but make sure you have the proper APN settings typed in and otherwise you can browse using your data package. NOT WIFI (obviously it wil work with wifi)
Im sure Fb can work without BIS but you need the service books like you need if you want to use the native browser without BIS. Maybe some developer can write the service book. I dont know how to

Get new duplicate sim card your number.....then try again its work for me and change apn setting...... its only works for whatsapp not for facebook

Go to WhatsApp :: Home and download the whatsapp application...
Set your APN settings as per below...
tcp/ip settings (for a 3 contract phone) are
Options > Advanced > TCP/IP
APN address : three.co.uk
Username : guest
Password: guestI assume you'll need to contact 3 to get a blackberry data plan if you plan on using BIS.
Whatsapp on Blackberry without BIS Plan

If you don't want to use or subscribe to BIS, then get a BlackBerry 10 smartphone, otherwise just have it like everyone else

You will know if BIS is active on your device and is connected to the BlackBerry Servers, by the 4 BB Dots in the top right of the phones screen.

I think it depends on the carrier, I know some without BIS subscription on BBOS and it works like normal.

As far as I know, only OS7 devices are still useful without BIS.
I have no idea how to get a OS6 device to play nice without it.Posted via CB10

With my local carrier, I couldn't use whatsapp anymore without a sim in it. That's why I had to reluctantly let go of it.
Good thing BB10 devices have been unshackled from BIS.

IMHO all bbry 10 doesnt need BIS. Only legacy device need it for bbm etc
